ADR Class 6 transport across Western Europe

Toxic substances and infectious materials – Class 6 covers two distinct categories, each with its own handling protocols, documentation requirements, and packaging standards. We transport both across Western Europe on full truckload tautliner trailers, packaged goods only, with full ADR compliance managed in-house.

What ADR classes do you transport under Class 6?
We transport both Class 6 sub-classes - 6.1 toxic substances and 6.2 infectious substances
More information
Class 6.1 covers substances toxic by ingestion, inhalation, or skin contact across all three packing groups. Class 6.2 covers infectious substances containing pathogens capable of causing disease - we carry both Category A (UN 2814 / UN 2900), which includes substances capable of causing life-threatening disease, and Category B (UN 3373), which covers diagnostic specimens, patient samples, and clinical materials. All shipments run on full truckload tautliner trailers with packaged goods only.
Can Class 6 goods travel with other cargo?
Where regulations and segregation rules allow, Class 6 goods can travel alongside compatible cargo in the same tautliner. Compatibility is assessed on a per-shipment basis.
More information
ADR sets out strict segregation requirements for Class 6 - particularly for 6.1 toxic substances around foodstuffs and other cargo categories. Class 6.2 has additional segregation requirements due to its infectious nature. When you submit your load details we assess compatibility as part of the planning process. Where mixed loading is permitted we flag the options - where it is not, the shipment runs as a dedicated load.
What packaging is required for Class 6.2 shipments?
Category A requires the more stringent UN-certified packaging specifications. Category B must meet UN P650 triple packaging requirements, correctly marked with the UN 3373 biohazard designation.
More information
Category A infectious substances (UN 2814 / UN 2900) must meet strict packaging specifications designed to withstand significant force and pressure - the packaging must contain the substance even under severe transport conditions. Category B (UN 3373) requires a triple packaging system - primary receptacle, secondary packaging, and rigid outer packaging - marked with the biohazard symbol and proper shipping name. All packaging compliance is a shipper responsibility confirmed at booking and verified at loading.

Toxic substances - class 6.1

Pesticides, methanol, aniline, lead compounds – Class 6.1 covers substances that are toxic by ingestion, skin absorption, or inhalation. The hazard level varies significantly across packing groups – from packing group III substances with moderate toxicity through to packing group I substances requiring the strictest handling and documentation.

We carry Class 6.1 goods across all three packing groups. Vehicles are correctly placarded – including inhalation hazard designation where required. All transport documents specify toxicity routes, subsidiary hazards, and emergency response information. Drivers hold full ADR certificates.

Score Logistics handles Class 6.1 shipments across Western Europe. All drivers are fully ADR-certified.

Infectious substances - class 6.2

Class 6.2 covers biological substances containing pathogens – bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi capable of causing disease in humans or animals. Transport requirements are determined by the category of the substance and the risk it presents under normal transport conditions.

We carry Class 6.2 infectious substances on full truckload tautliner trailers across Western Europe – both Category A and Category B, provided the substance does not require temperature-controlled transport. Every shipment is assessed individually before booking to confirm suitability, packaging compliance, and documentation requirements.

Category A substances (UN 2814 / UN 2900) are transported under the strictest packaging specifications and documentation requirements. Category B (UN 3373) requires UN P650 compliant triple packaging, correctly marked with the biohazard designation and proper shipping name. All packaging compliance is confirmed at booking and verified at loading.

If you are unsure whether your specific substance and packaging meet the requirements for ambient temperature transport, contact us before booking – we will assess suitability and come back with a clear answer.

ADR transport you can plan around

85 trucks, all ours, all ADR-certified. One contract, one liable party, full chain of custody from loading to delivery.

Cargo compatibility is assessed on a per-shipment basis. Where regulations and segregation rules allow, Class 6 goods can travel alongside compatible cargo in the same tautliner – giving shippers with mixed loads more flexibility without compromising compliance.

Clients shipping more than 5 loads per month qualify for Inner Circle conditions – priority capacity, a dedicated point of contact, and rates that reflect the volume relationship.
