ADR Class 9 substances transport across Western Europe
Miscellaneous dangerous substances and articles – Class 9 is the broadest category in ADR, covering goods that present a hazard during transport but don’t fit the definition of any other hazard class. Environmentally hazardous substances, safety devices, magnetized materials, and lithium batteries all fall under Class 9. We transport Class 9 goods across Western Europe on full truckload tautliner trailers, packaged goods only, with full ADR compliance managed in-house.

Environmentally hazardous substances - Class 9
Environmentally hazardous substances are among the most commonly shipped Class 9 goods in Western European freight – chemicals, oils, and industrial substances that present a significant hazard to the aquatic environment if released during transport.
Class 9 environmentally hazardous substances come in two forms – liquids (UN 3082) and solids (UN 3077). Both require correct UN marking on packaging, environmentally hazardous substance marks on the outer packaging, and a correctly completed transport document specifying the technical name of the substance alongside the proper shipping name.
Despite being one of the less visually dramatic hazard classes, environmental hazardous substance shipments are subject to full ADR compliance requirements. Incorrect documentation or unmarked packaging can result in significant delays at borders and during roadside checks.
We handle Class 9 environmentally hazardous substance shipments weekly across Western Europe. All vehicles are correctly placarded, all documentation is prepared in-house, and all drivers hold full ADR certificates.

Safety devices & magnetised materials - Class 9
Safety devices – Airbags, seatbelt pretensioners, and other pyrotechnic safety devices are classified as Class 9 dangerous goods due to the explosive charge they contain. They move regularly through automotive supply chains across Western Europe – from component manufacturers to assembly plants and aftermarket distributors.
Safety devices are transported in their original manufacturer packaging, which is designed to meet ADR requirements. All shipments are correctly marked, placarded, and documented. We handle safety device shipments on full truckload tautliner trailers across all eight countries in our network.
Magnetised materials are classified as Class 9 because their magnetic field can interfere with aircraft navigation instruments – making correct identification and documentation important even though the ground transport risk is relatively low. Industrial magnets, magnetic assemblies, and certain electronic components fall into this category.
We carry magnetised materials on full truckload tautliner trailers. All shipments are correctly identified, marked, and documented in accordance with ADR requirements.

ADR transport you can plan around
85 trucks, all ours, all ADR-certified. One contract, one liable party, full chain of custody from loading to delivery.
Class 9 cargo covers a wide range of goods with varying segregation and documentation requirements. Every shipment is assessed individually – compatibility, placarding, and documentation reviewed before booking is confirmed. Where mixed loading is permitted within ADR regulations we flag the options – where it is not, the shipment runs as a dedicated load.
Clients shipping more than 5 loads per month qualify for Inner Circle conditions – priority capacity, a dedicated point of contact, and rates that reflect the volume relationship.
